报告摘要：Since the existence of the earth and human being, wood or timber has been utilized for the purpose of living. In the very beginning they are used as cooking fire, Wood or timber is derived from trees which take years to grow. They have special characteristics easy to be produced into things for human daily needs, which are more valuable rather than burnt.

With the advance of technologies, the method of processing wood material can be essentially divided into three methods: a. Sawing; b. Peeling and c. Chipping.

Sawing is the simplest process, which is still being widely used until today, mainly for structural purposes. The purpose of peeling the log is to get veneer. One of the earliest records of veneering is a pictorial mural unearthed by Archaelogists in Egypt. So the Egyptians discovered the peeling processing producing veneer to make panel products which continued to be the main competitive edge over sawmilling today. The Chipping technology was introduced in the twentieth century as innovation to the peeling technique to make different usage products with more competitive value which combined with resin and pressing technology and were capable of producing good quality panel products which we call [particle-board] or [oriented strand board].

Indonesia has been known as one of the biggest hardwood plywood suppliers of the world from 1985-1997, we supply almost 75% of hardwood plywood demand of the world. The key role why end-users like to use tropical hardwood plywood is wide-range of species offering special characteristics of strength, natural durability and appearance.
