报告摘要:
All over the world the material and spiritual heritage of societies is tightly connected with forests. In many countries the cultural legacy of forests means tradition and the way of life, and these are connected with values, ethics, aesthetics, legitimacy responsibility and religion. The cultural heritage of the forests and in the forests tackles the multiple interrelationships between forests, forest management and the human society, which have changed in the course of history. It is not only confined to demonstrating historical developments, but contributes also considerably to a better understanding of the present situation of forests and the development of the cultural landscape. Examples of forest culture are for instance bee-keeping, the cultivation of certain tree species and the traditional knowledge of certain wood properties for specific uses, forest pasturage, fruit growing, resin tapping, and charcoal burning. These potentials have so far only been partially investigated with regard to the rural development. Thus, there is a need to deepen the knowledge related to the forest related cultural heritage. Globally there is an increasing interest of local farmers in new markets and additional income beside forestry and an increasing interest of tourisms in the utilization of forest areas and beautiful sceneries. Cultural landscapes can therefore be considered to be a development factor. The paper tackles the theme how joint efforts can merge the safeguarding of the forest-related cultural heritage with projects concerning the economic development or remote areas. It intends to reveal attempts to put international and European agreements into action for the benefit of the local people. As a case study it addresses the establishment of the network Forest Culture in Austria, its targets and visions and puts attention on the efforts to raise awareness to this topic by specific educational programs and general information including forest pedagogics.
