The national tournament included in the 24th National Junior High School Education Fair for Creative Manufacturing will be held on January 31st, 2025. Each contestant designs a woodworking product addressing problems that he/she found in their life or social issue. Two hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa) boards (T15 x W200 x L900 mm) and a shina (Tilia japonica) plywood (T4 x W450 x L450 mm) can be used for the manufacturing. Students craft the products by using wood hand tools namely, carpenter's square, saw, plain plane and others within 4 hours. Drawings, concept reports, cutting lists and time schedules for woodworking are submitted in advance. After making, evaluation and utilization of the product, results are presented to motivation for creating the work and how using it has improved the convenience of own life and a device point on design and production within 2 minutes. Each of the above items are examined and the excellent works are commended. In previous contests, students design and manufacture bookends, a hanger rack, and cabinet and so on. These woodworking projects are often for use in the elderly or young children and useful in schools or at home. All the works were recognized not only for their originality and a high level of skill, but also for how they solved in their life or social issue.
